Intrinsic to my artmaking process is an engagement with the landscape. I begin with daily walking and en plein air drawing/ painting. In my studio I refer to this with improvisatory mark-making. I allow the the marks I make to recreate my impressions and my memory. I veil the result with paint scraped on and off, and with rivers of runs produced by the spray bottle. This may take only a day or two, but often months, as I work over the paint again to find a solution, drawing and writing into the paint and adding more layers of colour.
