Untitled 221Oil & charcoal on canvas150 x 140 x 5cm, unframedOpen Eye Gallery Award Winner: A solo show, selected by representatives of Open Eye Gallery£4000 + p&p uk at point of saleMy practice explores how as individuals we choose to interact with the natural world. My process resides within a profound interest in the interpretation of literature, perception, foraging, composition and colour. Through continually re-working intervals of space, rhythmic movement and perspective, the work critiques our consumption of space, while honouring the poetic subject matter used to augment the affects perceptual painting has on us. The initial inception begins with the landscape creating a tension between the conscious and the unconscious. By re-imagining mapping and time, the work attempts to trigger the sublime and is deeply dependent on the ontological experience.Jacob Littlejohn is a graduate of The Glasgow School of Art. He has participated in considerable shows and received several awards. Since completing the Graduate Residency at Leith School of Art he’s enrolled at the San Francisco Art Institute, after receiving a fellowship to pursue an MFA in Studio Art.
