My painting process is intuitive and is driven by compositional concerns - relationships between colours, the materiality of the paint, thickness, thinness, and the speed and energy of marks. I am also interested in painting’s relationships to place and time, for example through the non-linear accumulation of imagery and forms.
MacKenzie graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2019 with a First Class BA (Hons) in Painting & Printmaking. She was a selected artist for New Contemporaries 2020 at the Royal Scottish Academy, and other recent awards include the Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Award, the RSA Latimer Award, the WASPS Award, and the Great Art Award. She has work in both private and public collections.
