View on a Wall
Tracey’s work is rich with meaning and personal symbology enhanced by travel and concentrated periods of research in Italy and Spain. Cradled in a love of the Renaissance and evoking the sensibilities of fresco, subjects include intimate interiors and places of sanctuary with an ancient colour palette inspired by the classical world. Recent work painted during lock down focusses on the objects we live with, the memories they evoke, the stories we can tell and share and how comfort can be found in this space. It touches on feelings of isolation, home and place, national identity, while reminiscing about happier days and hoping for a better future for our children.
