Hannah’s work strongly alludes to organic themes of growth and proliferation, taking inspiration from the sessile and colonial creatures found within Scottish waters. Through reinterpreting these creatures’ forms and surface textures, Hannah casts and hand raises playful and tactile vessels in silver. Each vessel presents itself as a creature of its own kind. The artist hopes for the onlooker to interpret each object as though it is in the process of repopulating from a single vessel to form a colony once collected.
Hannah Keddie is a contemporary Scottish silversmith and jeweller, whose work is strongly influenced by coastal environments and the creatures which inhabit them. Since graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in 2021, Hannah has worked as an apprentice and continues to develop her degree show collection.
