My plaster work is derived from equal parts of perseverance, chance, and catastrophe.
Pushing my work towards edge of physical collapse, I examine the tension of strength against fragility.
The sculptural pieces are simultaneously delicate and complex, revealing the vulnerability and strength, tenacity and brittleness of life.
My work challenges the audience to move closer and imagine the parts of the work that are not seen - to understand the inner world within, to look past the smooth veneer and recognise the underlying reality.
Kirsty is an Edinburgh based visual artist.
Kirsty initially worked mainly with acrylics and inks. However, she now enjoys working in a wide variety of mediums, from egg shells to coffee grounds, soap, tea bags, rust and plaster, exploring the boundaries and characteristics of each element, and delighting in the exciting new possibilities.
