In a time where humankind’s relationship with nature is fraught, my practice hopes to demonstrate the growing need for re-establishing a worthwhile connection to the natural world.
Increasingly time spent in the wild is snatched at amid the churning of modern life, with photos of natural wonders brought home like trophies, divorced from context, warped in high saturation, high contrast fiction. Much of our relationship with nature is performative, even competitive.
In my work I hope to champion inaction as a means of remedying this problem. Doing for less, and sharing it only with nature.
I live and work in Dundee. Growing up in the north Highlands, my practice has always been intrinsically linked to the environment and the way in which we interact with nature. Since graduating in 2017, my work has engaged with the act of drawing as a means for exploration.
