Lyndsey Gilmour’s practice explores representation within Painting to explore modes of recognition, testing how Painting can contribute to one's understanding of reality.
She investigates how observation and memory can be used as working methods to depict objects in relation to space and utilises the shadow as a bridge between their representational and physical being.
From Lanarkshire and currently based in Aberdeenshire, Gilmour obtained her Master of Fine Art Degree, specialising in Painting, from the Slade School of Fine Art (2014), and her BA Honours Degree in Painting from Gray’s School of Art (2010). Awards include The Dewar Arts Award, Pocock Award, William Coldstream Prize and RSA Latimer Award.
