I use old family photos as my starting point: reimagining narratives, messing with place/time, and hoping to transcend the personal while sidestepping nostalgia. My thoughts about the fleeting nature of time along with the precious/precarious gift of being alive is hopefully evident in the work. In recent years I have gravitated towards working with textiles, pushing beyond the domestic and into a contemporary art context. I often employ appliqué using woven fabric created on a computer controlled jacquard loom to create my images.
