My work is occupied with themes centered on identity and subjective experiences. I assemble motifs from collective and artificial memory such as stock photos, kitsch folk art, images created via obsolete technology, vintage advertising, and art history, but I also draw on anecdotal sources, such as synesthetic-like associations from mundane, universal experiences. By reconstructing found images I aim to instil quietude and introspection in the sensational, and vice versa.
Helene Wynn is a Norwegian Glasgow-based artist who works mainly in the
media of drawing and painting, using both digital and non-digital techniques. She
graduated from the Glasgow School of Art (Painting and Printmaking) in 2009,
and has since continued her studio practice independently and participated in
local group shows.
