Ailsa’s work explores how the materiality of our everyday affects our lives. Her wearable objects consider the potential and preciousness of touching, wearing and using everyday objects to enhance and celebrate the quality of our connection to self and others. The pieces she makes catch, anticipate or provoke fleeting, instinctive, subconscious moments of connection - those that are sometimes difficult to grasp because they rush past, over before we are even aware that they are happening - shaking a hand, waking up ……… Gently activist, she encourages and prompts us to consider what jewellery is and how we wear it.
