I am excited by colour, pattern and line and like experimenting with colours and elements which should not work in theory. I enjoy creating harmony from conflicting elements.
My work is full of personal meanings: colour combinations I remember, or childhood memories like an old party frock, a sweet wrapper or a garden I saw with different shades of green on a moss lawn.
Lately I have been working on a series of 'Bridge' paintings which evolved from the elliptical shapes I had formerly been using. I like the idea of bridge as metaphor to explore relationships to my environment.
I graduated BA Hons FIne Art from Leeds Polytechnic and PG Diploma in Industrial Design at the Scottish College of Textiles. I exhibited at many of the Scottish open annual exhibitions over the past couple of years including Aberdeen Artists , RSA , SSA , VAS, Hulabhaig, and had a solo exhibition ‘Polka Dots and Smoke Dreams’ at the Sottish Arts Club January 2022. I will have a solo exhibition at the Whitespace Gallery this July.
